Sampdoria "reach agreement" to sign Samuel Eto'o from Everton

Reports in Italy are claiming that Sampdoria have agreed a deal to sign Samuel Eto'o, though Everton are apparently still keen to keep the veteran striker.

Despite triggering a one-year extension clause in his contract by making 15 appearances this season Eto'o reportedly wants to leave in order to play regular first-team football and be closer to his family in Milan. Though if you believe Twitter, Eto'o is apparently a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
Those rumours contradict recent quotes from Roberto Martinez, who said Eto'o's departure was by no means guaranteed and hoped the 33-year-old would stay.
That seems unlikely now with Sampdoria seemingly waiting for the green light to complete the deal and bring Eto'o's all too brief Everton career to an end.
The Liverpool Echo are also carrying similar quotes, though this time from Sampdoria director of sport Carlo Osti, who reportedly told Sky Sport Italia:
"Eto’o has been a great operation on the transfer market,"
"We have an agreement with him and now are just waiting for him to free himself from Everton."
